AFL 2014: After Round 12 … and Richmond

Introduction

This is my weekly update of AFL performance. In addition to sharing some features of overall performance, I take a look at Richmond’s season.

Scoring in Round 12

Round 12 started with a high scoring, close game between Geelong (107) and Carlton (102). Geelong overcame a two point deficit at the end of the Third Quarter to win the game.
Four other winning teams scored over 100 points with Port Adelaide’s 129 total being the highest of the Round.
Melbourne’s 28 points against Collingwood was the lowest score by a losing team in the 2014 season.
The gap between the average winning score and losing score for each of the Rounds in the 2014 season is:

Richmond: Performance Against 2013 Ranking

All teams in Round 12, with the exception of Richmond, played to their 2013 ranking. Their defeat to North Melbourne was the sixth time this season they have lost to a lower ranked team.
Their scoring pattern to date (including the Bye week) is:
Rich 1 12
Richmond has defeated three lower ranked teams this season.
