Supporting Coaching

I had the opportunity to spend today with a remarkable group of coach educators.
We discussed what we had in common. Three issues that struck me as particularly interesting were:

  • Developing flexible learning opportunities to support coaching pathways
  • Cross-sport mentoring
  • Sharing development opportunities across sports to support coach education within sports

During the day I received alerts to other coach education and development information. Via Scoop.it I learned of UK Sports’ three-year elite coaching programme that will help support up to twelve coaches in the run-up to the Rio Olympics in 2016. Via a Facebook link I learned of New Zealand’s Blueprint for developing Kiwi coaches.
Andrew Eade said of the New Zealand developments “by releasing the refreshed Coaching Strategy and Community Sport Coaching Plan we hope to re-emphasise the importance of coaching and reinvigorate the good work already taking place across the sector”.
