Earlier this week I posted a summary of winning and losing profiles in Australian Rules Football after five weeks of the 2013 season.
Australian Rules
This week, three (Adelaide, Collingwood, West Coast) of the top five ranked teams from 2012 lost away from home. Carlton, Essendon and Port Adelaide, respectively, were the winners in these games. Port Adelaide’s victory was particularly notable. Port overcame a 21 point deficit at the end of the Third Quarter. This is the biggest comeback so far (by end of Third Quarter scores) this season.
Geelong, Essendon and Port Adelaide have won all five of their games to date. GWS are the only team not to have won a game.
Rugby League
After last week’s Bye Round for the ANZAC Test Match, all sixteen teams were involved in games this week. Notable winners were the Roosters and the Knights. The Roosters defeated the Dragons at home and the Knights won away at the Titans. After seven rounds of the competition, the Roosters have defeated three higher ranked opponents from 2012, the Knights four.
The Melbourne Storm are the only unbeaten team in the competition after Round 7. Current standings compared to 2012 are:
Rugby Union
Week 11 was a distinctive week in the Super 15 competition. It was the first time this season that all the games followed the 2012 Rankings. The Stormers had an away win in New Zealand against the Hurricanes. The Reds had a one-point victory over the Blues. The Crusaders came from behind to defeat the Rebels. It was a Bye week for the Highlanders. Using my old colour scheme, this is how the Round looked.
