This is Orientation Week for #etmooc.
I like the format of the course and have enjoyed Alan Levine’s background information about its development. Alec Couros has a welcome message here.
There is an Activity for Orientation Week outlined in this post. I think the post gives a great feel for the connectivist essence and cMOOCness of the course. It was good to read of Lisa Lane’s taxonomy of MOOCs.
I enjoyed the About description of the course too. I think the three principles presented resonate strongly with points I made in a post about co-operation. The principles are:
- The course is developed with a weak ‘centre’. … the majority of interactions are likely to occur within groups and networks, facilitated through various online spaces and services.
- Participants are strongly encouraged to develop their own reflective, learning spaces. We’re hoping that every learner in #etmooc creates and maintains their own blog for continuous reflection, creativity, and resource sharing.
- Sharing and network participation are essential for the success of all learners in #etmooc. Thus, we’ll be needing you to share your knowledge, to support and encourage others, and to participate in meaningful conversations.
The topics and the schedule for the course can be found here. Each of the topics has been allocated two weeks for discussion. Topic 1 starts on 20 January, Connected Learning – Tools, Processes and Pedagogy.
I hope to follow the course and am fascinated to see how some the CCK08 participants are flourishing in new digital habitats.
