Introduction

I have been tracking winners’ performances during the 2016 AFL season.
I have been using median points differences by quarter to compare performances. My data for the season can be found here.
The games in Finals Week 1 were completed on Saturday evening with Adelaide’s win over North Melbourne.

In Finals Week 1, the winning teams’ performances compared to the median profile of all winners during the regular season were:

  • Geelong v Hawthorn: Contested 4Q
  • GWS v Sydney: Contested 2Q
  • Adelaide v North Melbourne: Contested 2Q
