The 2014 AFL season starts on Friday, 14 March with the first game in Round 1 between Collingwood and Fremantle at the Etihad Stadium.
It will be fascinating to see early evidence of the changes facilitated by the eighteen football departments during pre-season.
I will be interested in particular in:
- Hawthorn’s title defence
- How Fremantle build on their 2013 season
- Any changes in the gap between winning and losing teams
- The impact of bye weeks
- Performance against 2013 ranking
I will mourn the absence of Dean Bailey from the season and hope that his passing will help us all have a sense of perspective about what is important.
