Changing Perspective

Back in the 1980s I learned from BBC’s Tomorrow’s World about Skycam.
The availability of a remote controlled aerial camera transformed the point of view video available to TV audiences, coaches an players.
Over the past thirty-years these cameras have become omnipresent in major sporting stadia. The 2012 Olympics’ coverage will use a number of these cameras in a variety of venues.
On Friday I was introduced to an interesting alternative.
Danny Munnerley and Rob Fitzgerald of the Inspire Centre at the University of Camerahave been looking at the potential of the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 to gather video images.
There is an AR Drone YouTube channel that demonstrates the functionality of the drone and shares images collected with its HD cameras.
