I have had the good fortune to meet many coaches on my journey through sport.
Two days ago, I wrote about a coach whom I have known for forty years.
Today, I am remembering a coach with whom I had hoped to spend more time but was unable to do so.
I met Phil Walsh twice. Once at Port Adelaide and once at West Coast. Both meetings led to online conversations.
I loved being in his company and savoured our exchanges. Phil transformed my understanding of coaching and was very important in my induction to coaching in Australia.
I would have loved to have listened more to his coaching story. This weekend brings back very powerful memories and feelings.
